Three of T d l M’s most popular jackets have been brought to life as giant paper sculptures.
To celebrate our collection of re-invigorated classics we have collaborated with paper sculptor Andrew MacGregor to create our most elaborate and exciting show to date. Each monster sculpture embodies the spirit of the jacket and translates the fabric texture into the finest paper forms.
The sculptures begin life as articulated cardboard skeletons, each piece slotting together into a carefully crafted form. Onto these foundations
Andrew works with high quality paper from Fedrigoni using a variety of techniques to construct sculptures that express the very makeup of each
Jacket, its form, color, style and even how it feels to wear it.
Imposing in scale, and painstakingly built, each sculpture mimics the dynamics of the jacket it represents.
Trench sculpture: Oversized corduroy forms are cut from arched paper strips and gathered material at the waist is represented by concertina paper-folding. Taking inspiration from the functionality of the garment, the detailing, scale and fabric choice, determined the shape and style of this sculpture.
Work Jacket: The interior pattern work of the jacket is represented by simple paper layering that displays its depth with mesmeric allure. Covered in fine quality textured paper this square and finely tailored sculpture reflects the jacket’s classic properties – a tough but seamless exterior sets the standard for immaculate presentation.
Wax Bomber Jacket: Slick translucent papers encase pearly snakeskin folds – the proud waxy jacket with the soft quilted interior is personified by this haughty alter ego.
