Shigay Tajima, Global Onassis Designer
Head Designer Shigay Tajima grew up in Japan but spent 16 years in New York City. He has successfully infused Japanese design innovation into American style by building on a foundation of classic design with modern silhouettes and details. After returning to his native Tokyo, Tajima grew increasingly frustrated with not being able to find well-designed, high quality clothing for himself at reasonable prices and saw there was a definitive miss in the market, both in Japan and the USA. Hence, the birth of the signature Onassis shirt, followed by the entire collection after years of painstaking research and development.
With design and concept teams in New York and Tokyo, Onassis began with a simple aim: to construct the perfect woven shirt for the modern man. It took over a year to perfect our washed shirt, and it is now the cornerstone of the Onassis brand.
