Scottish born designer Jonathan Saunders has been announced the winner of the British Fashion Council’s EMERGING TALENT AWARD – MENSWEAR at the 2012 British Fashion Awards.

‘It is an absolute honour to have been nominated for this award so early into the
development of my menswear line, and to actually win it is a fantastic seal of
approval from the industry! For me, designing menswear is really personal and
I’m so grateful to both the customer and the industry for helping to make it a
success. Thank you to the British Fashion Council for their continued support.’

Saunders received the British Fashion Council / Vogue Fashion Fund in 2012, as well as British Designer of the Year at the Elle Style Awards 2012, recognising his
success in womenswear. Last night’s British Fashion Award in Emerging Talent–Menswear is Jonathan’s first award for menswear.

Jonathan Saunders graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1999 with a BA in Printed Textiles, going on to graduate from Central Saint Martin’s in 2012. This season marks Saunders’ second standalone menswear collection, which continues to exemplify his trade mark expertise in the use of print and texture. Creating
masculine yet subtle garments, Jonathan Saunders’ engineered prints around
patterned pieces provides for an individualised and visually exciting collection, and sees his ongoing growth in the realm of menswear.
