As many of you well know, every city in Italy has a patron saint, and San Gennaro is the patron saint of Naples.

Allegedly born in Benevento, Januarius was the Bishop of Naples who was persecuted under the Roman Emperor Diocletian sometime around 305AD. Assorted legends surround his death

So it is San Gennaro who appears as the muse of the Isaia autumn/winter 2013 collection and the saint’s connection to the volcano Mt. Vesuvius.

The color palette is reminiscent of the Pompeii frescoes with ochre, rust, burn red, grays, blues, and browns.
