The Story of the 20th Century
For AW13 Farah 1920 focuses on the people, the events and the clothing of the 20th Century. The “Heroes of Invention” series is a mixture of reinvented classics and inspired contemporary pieces. Authenticity is paired with innovation to ensure that each garment functions in the present while maintaining its link with the past.
This is exemplified on outerwear items such as US Navy inspired “Crampton” Deck Coat, which uses a lightweight shell fabric with a Melton liner for superb durability and warmth.
The “Wiggins” Chore Coat takes its cues from a 1940s’ US Railroad Workwear jacket. Versatility is the key with a removable blanket liner that doubles as a waistcoat. The Nubuck collar adds a premium touch to a must have outerwear piece.
Also key for AW13 are the all-over “conversational” prints which lend commonality across jersey, shirts and sweats and feature as a lining and pocketing on outerwear and trousers.
Shirts consist of bold flannel checks; all weather waxed twills, and overdyed ginghams. All have been delicately washed to give an authentic and weatherworn feel and feature natural wood or shell buttons. Two tone twills form the basis for tailored trousers and jackets, each carefully finished with iconic hand sewn metal buttons and printed twill linings. Refined yet rugged; epitomising the Farah 1920 ethos.
Colours range from the warmth of Bordeaux, Ruby and Gold, to rich earthy tones of Almond and Cocoa. Dark Indigo, Petrol and Teal reflect the utilitarian element underpinning the range.
True to the theme that inspired it, Farah 1920 A/W ’13 combines workwear and tailoring into a premium collection perfect for 21st Century living.
