Domingo Rodriguez showed his SS13 menswear range as part of LCFM, an initiative that brought together London College of Fashion’s most exciting menswear alumni during London Collections Men. The runway event, styled by i-D’s Fashion
Editor Elgar Johnson, Showcased `Rodriguez’s collection to an attentive audience that gathered at the Royal Society of Arts on 15 June 2012.
Domingo was born to a Dominican father and English mother, moving to Liverpool when he was 5 years old where he would later study fashion design at John Moores
University. Although he began his studies learning the craft from scratch after no previous fashion experience, Domingo was quick to receive recognition and was awarded the Susan cotton travel scholarship, visiting Hong Kong and encountering his first taste of the luxury fashion market.
Rodriguez then gained industry experience interning at the renowned Delphine Wilson Knitwear and at menswear designers Kim Jones and Carolyn Massey, all of which have been said to influence his own work. With his BA collection Domingo Rodriguez was awarded the Harold Tillman Scholarship to study MA Fashion Design and Technology (Menswear) at the London College of Fashion, after impressing a judging panel including Julien Macdonald and Claudia Schiffer at Graduate Fashion Week 2008.
From his latest collection, which focuses on the framework of the human figure, expect relaxed computer knitted chevron jacquards and matching slouch jersey trousers. As well as crochet knitted t shirts and vests paired with loose fitted trousers
and shorts, contrast with luxurious leather pieces that give the soft sports feel of the collection a refreshing yet sophisticated edginess. Domingo has also collaborated with Solid Grey to create a limited collection of rucksacks.
