On March 14th, a preview of Men’s Fashion Week brought together some of the most outstanding talent in Pakistani menswear design, including Munib Nawab, Kameil Azhar from Kamaliyaat, Babar Anwer from Akbar & Babar, Sameer Ali, Waleed Bilwani from Daniyal, and Tayyab Bomal. The main event will take place in Karachi on April 29 and 30.
According to some, the hands-down winner of the event was Tayyab Bombal, who presented a collection of multi-toned ties and a collage of shalwar kameez—the traditional long shirts worn in Pakistan.
Munib Nawaz presented a collection entitled “Black Friday,” which was designed to depict the gloom of Pakistan’s youth. Akbar & Babar chose to go with a printed kurta pant.
Tayyab Bombal also presented kurtas in his collection, which he called “Namaloom Afraad,” as he drew inspiration from the misfortunate incidents of terror within the country.
Some attendees were disappointed at the two-and-half-hour late start, the poorly lit venue, and the runway constructed out of mud. But, at least the show happened!
